The classic 1960’s and early 70s comedy series Till Death Us Do Part had established Warren Mitchell’s bigoted big-mouth Alf Garnett as one of the most unforgettable figures of British television. Too good a character to leave to posterity, his creator Johnny Speight brought him back – as opinionated, loud-mouthed, bad tempered, reactionary, prudish, homophobic and hilarious as ever
The second series of the Til Death Us Do Part sequel might have missed the late Dandy Nichols, but the loud-mouthed Alf Garnett is joined by a host of great character actors including Carmel McSharry, Patricia Hayes, Irene Handl, Arthur English and Ken Campbell. Else has died and Alf is left to cope with life as a widower. Now he has to get by on a smaller pension, cook his own Sunday dinner and put up with Mrs Hollingbery, his landlady who lives in the upstairs flat.
Alfs not exactly alone, hes still got his drinking friend Arthur; exasperated neighbours, the Johnsons; Winston, the black (and gay!) social worker; his daughter, Rita; batty ex-neighbour Min and her senile sister Gwenneth and Mrs Hollingbery, who might even cook for him if he can prove himself handy around the house!
