This one of those epic adventure films that will keep the entire family entertained on a long dreary Sunday afternoon. It is based on Rudyard Kipling’s tale set in the days of the Raj, and tells the story of Daniel Dravot (Sean Connery) and Peachy Carnahan (Michael Caine) and their exploits as they travel from India into Kafiristan, one of those remote mountain kingdoms along the border between India and Afghanistan. The purpose of their travels, at least for Dravot, is to become King, no less. It is a fantastic tale of deceit and ingenuousness. And in the capable hands of larger than life director John Huston it all comes together beautifully.
