A Passage to India

A Passage to India is “a wonderfully provocative tale, full of vivid characters, all played to near perfection” (The New York Times). With the director’s “strongest cast in years” (Time Out) including Judy Davis, James Fox, Sir Alec Guinness, and Nigel Havers. When liberal-minded English ladies Mrs Moore (Ashcroft) and Adela Quested (Davis) arrive in India, they’re shocked by the prejudice that exists there. The gentle Dr Aziz (Victor Banerjee) rises above the intolerance and guides the women on a tour of the splendid and mysterious Marabar caves; but when Adela runs terrified from the caves scratched and bleeding, news of the incident spreads across the whole of India… igniting a powder keg of tension that has been waiting to explode.
